Common Problems

My scanner found a virus in a Blizzard folder.

If your antivirus software detects a virus in a Blizzard game folder, the detection will most likely be a false positive. Sometimes the process of updating or patching games can look suspicious to antivirus software. Follow these steps to make sure your computer is safe:

  1. If an antivirus program is reporting false positives, many other users will experience the same thing. Look for similar reports and updates on the Technical Support forums (World of Warcraft) (StarCraft II) (Diablo III ) (Hearthstone) (Heroes of the Storm) (Classic Games).
  2. Your antivirus vendor will have the most accurate information on antivirus false positives. Check their support forums if you are unable to reach their support department.
  3. While rare, some viruses do affect Blizzard game folders. Review our computer security page and run a different virus scan. If a Blizzard Launcher detects a virus, run a virus scan immediately. Be sure to change your account password.
