If you need to reach customer support, contact us.

A Game Master will never ask you to do anything that would compromise an account or its personal information.

Communicating With a Game Master

A customer support representative may contact you in the following ways:

  • Email
  • World of Warcraft in-game chat and appearance

Email

Official emails from customer support come from noreply@blizzard.com. If you doubt the authenticity of an email from a blizzard.com address, visit our Suspicious Emails and Phishing article for more information.

World of Warcraft In-Game Chat and Appearance

Click on the GM Chat Request icon located in the upper right corner of your screen to open the Game Master chat window. This icon only appears if a Game Master is attempting to contact you, and its border flashes blue when a message is received.

Game Masters have a  tag next to their names in chat. If someone claims to be a Game Master, but doesn't have that icon, report and block them.

Note: Some UI modifications can cause the GM Chat Request icon to be invisible. If you don't see it, restore your UI to its default settings.

If a Game Master cannot reach you in-game, or if the issue does not need further information, they may send an in-game mail to the character that submitted the ticket. You can also see ticket responses on your Ticket Status page. Check both locations before resubmitting a ticket.

A Game Master may need to make themselves visible when contacting you and will have a tag above their avatar, as shown below.

Customer Support Interaction Policies

Players that perform the following actions and behavior may receive an account penalty.

Impersonating a Game Master

Some players attempt to use the authority of Game Masters to take advantage of others. If anyone claiming to be a Game Master doesn't match the details above in this article, they are not official Blizzard Entertainment employees and should be reported.

Defrauding or Attempting to Defraud

Attempts to defraud include, but are not limited to, misdirecting attention, withholding information, providing false information, and any attempt to trick customer support.

Disobeying or Ignoring Instructions

Disobeying or ignoring instructions from customer support to perform, or restrain from performing, certain actions.

Submitting Multiple Tickets or Spamming

Submitting multiple tickets, or spamming, on an issue which has previously been addressed by customer support is unproductive. Such behavior may include submitting tickets with gibberish, copy and paste from previous tickets, repeated appeals, and making demands for resolutions which are out of our scope of support.

Offensive Language, Offensive Images, and Threats

Using offensive language, offensive images, or threats directed toward customer support staff is inappropriate and considered harassment. The determination of what is considered offensive content or a threat is at the sole discretion of Blizzard Entertainment.

Violating any area of the Terms of Use, including the areas detailed above, may result in suspension or closure of the responsible Battle.net account.

Note: If you would like to appeal a penalty placed on your account, please see our How to Appeal Suspensions and Closures article.
